Regent Honeyeater: The songbirds losing their own song

Scientist in Australia say a rare golden-yellow songbird called the Regent Honeyeater has become so few in number that those remaining have 鈥渇orgotten鈥 how to sing their own unique song.

Not being able to learn songs when young from their own species, the few hundred left in the wild have begun to mimic other birds.

It threatens their own survival as Dr Ross Crates from the Australian National University in Canberra 鈥 which is part of the study 鈥 explained to 大象传媒 Newsday鈥檚 Clare McDonnell.
