Why are so many children attempting to cross into the US?
There are increasing numbers of migrants and unaccompanied children seeking asylum in the US. Many of these are being held in sub-standard federal holding centres, just across the southern border from Mexico. Warren Binford, a child welfare lawyer and an International Children's Rights Scholar at Willamette University in Oregon, explains the challenge of dealing with the surge in numbers, and the steps that need to be taken.
