Sudan and rebel faction sign surprise deal

The Sudanese government and the SPLM-N agree on a pathway for future peace talks.

Sudan's government has signed an agreement for peace talks with leaders of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).

Plus Mozambique acknowledges that dozens were killed when militants attacked the north-eastern coastal town of Palma.

And African governments are urged to do more to protect the rights and well-being of their elderly populations.
