The WHO is fighting misinformation about Coronavirus using shareable content
Viral Facts Africa is a World Health Organisation-led initiative that aims to debunk rumours in Africa surrounding the covid pandemic and fill the information gaps where misinformation may thrive. You can get video and graphics with facts about the pandemic on your phone and elsewhere.
The initiative was created to fight health misinformation on the continent that uses shareable social content, backed by health experts at WHO, UNICEF, Africa CDC and checked by Africa's fact checkers (AfricaCheck, PesaCheck, Dubawa, AFP, GhanaFact). The goal is to debunk regional rumours and address information gaps where misinformation may thrive, by creating regionally focused social graphics and video.
To tell us more about we were joined by Phionah Atuhebwe, WHO Vaccine Introduction Officer for the African Region in Kampala, Uganda.
