George Floyd verdict: An opportunity for change
A jury has found former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter following a three-week trial, for the murder of George Floyd in May 2020.
Tawanna Black, founder and CEO of the Center For Economic Inclusion in Minneapolis, spoke of the opportunities for broader change she hopes this verdict will bring and her optimism for the future.
"Right now, we have an opportunity to pass laws that help us undo the racism that was built into our system - and we have an opportunity to do that right now".
