Get to know South-East London rapper and singer ENNY.
Southeast London rapper and singer ENNY (real name Enitan Adepitan) has been spitting bars since she was in primary school and is fast becoming one of the most exciting new voices in the London rap scene.
Her lyrical prowess and slick beats are rooted in the gospel, jazz, hip-hop and garage influences she soaked up as child. It was during these formative years that she honed her sound, spending lunch breaks in the music room with friends and hours playing her keyboard. The result is soundscape that blends soulful grooves with conscious lyricism and laid-back bars.
In 2018, ENNY started uploading her freestyles to YouTube and she soon caught the ear of a playlister at Reprezent Radio who soon became her manager after fellow Thamesmead rapper R.A.E played her music on the station. However, it wasn’t until the release of her single ‘Peng Black Girls’ in 2020 that ENNY had her breakthrough moment, earning millions of streams, a Colours session and a collaboration with Jorja Smith.
This momentum doesn’t seem to be waning any time soon, with latest single ‘Same Old’ further showcasing her confident and comfortable style. Written the day she quit her job to commit to music full time, the track reflects on everything from love and relationships to Brexit with her distinctive wit and insightful observations.
With an EP dropping this summer and a slot at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 1’s Big Weekend confirmed, the buzz surrounding this artist is only going to continue growing and we can't wait to see where it takes her.
