Borussia Dortmund Launch Women's Team
Borussia Dortmund have become the latest big European club to launch a women’s team.
Fans voiced their support for the formation of a team in a survey of BVB members and football clubs in the region last season and they will now start the 2021-2022 season in the eighth tier of German football.
The aim is to climb up the divisions and earn promotion to the Bundesliga within the next decade.
Borussia Dortmund are currently the most prominent club in Europe not to have a women’s team.
Maz Farookhi spoke to the men’s Champions League winner Christian Timm but first, head of the women’s department Svenja Schlenker about the project.
