Since being founded in 2008, the Ali Lamu company has relied on the local community to create the handcrafted bags. The company has over the years ventured into making bedding, paintings and other d茅cor items from the vintage sail cloth locally known as 鈥淭anga.鈥漈he items are mostly sold to tourists who visit the island and for export.
