Has the degree had its day?
Tanzania had 34 public and private Universities as of 2019 according to the Tanzania Commission for Universities. According to the country’s National Bureau of Statistics, between 800,000 and 1 million youth enter the job market every year – a number that’s significantly higher than the number of available jobs. Youth unemployment in Tanzania is estimated at 11.7%, and that figure is higher in cities like Dar es Salaam. In addition, employers in the country have expressed concerns over the quality of skills by fresh graduates.
