Trade by Barter
Animal skin, Gunpowder, Iron, Cowries, Precious stones and Agricultural produce such as cocoa and yams were all used to exchange goods and services. However all of this changed due to the commercial evolution and the introduction of money in the form of bank notes and coins which became a legal tender worldwide.
In Esuk Mba community, although bank notes are used for other transactions and services rendered, the Community market still uses the barter system of trade at this weekly Saturday market.
