Should some receive a third Covid vaccine dose?

While much of the world is waiting for their first Covid vaccination, for some groups, specifically organ recipients and those with suppressed immune systems, two doses is not enough to fully protect them against the virus.
According to a new study just published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, a third of organ recipients who had no antibodies after their second dose developed them after a third dose.

The lead author of the study, Dr William Werbel, is an infectious diseases research fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.
