Hungary: LGBT content banned for schools and children under 18
The Hungarian parliament has passed a law that forbids children from being shown any material that might feature gay or bisexual people or those having gender re-assignment. School educational materials or TV shows aimed at under-18s will be prohibited from sharing what the Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, has called "gay propaganda".Â
David Vig, the human rights group Amnesty International's director in Hungary, explains his reaction to the new law and says he hopes that the European Commission will challenge it as he considers that it is in clear contradiction of the European Union's LGBTQ strategy.
