Featured Artist: Miller Blue

Get to know Hackney-based soul artist Miller Blue as our Featured Artist.

With freedom on the horizon, it’s all too easy to get lost in the hazy, soulful sound of Hackney-based artist Miller Blue. Since moving to London four years ago, he has immersed himself the capital’s vibrant jazz scene, learning from those around him and making the most of the scene's collaborative essence. Before that, he dabbled in all the drum and bass Leeds had to offer. Blending elements of jazz, hip-hop and soulful electronica, he is a product of both his influences and the scenes he has immersed himself in over the years.

Whether it was the boy bands his mother obsessed over or the more suave sounds of Dr Dre that his father introduced him to, music has always been a constant in Miller's life. It wasn’t until he reached his teenage years that his interest in hip-hop and lyricism developed, something that remains at the core of his sound.

To date, the East London artist has released two EPs - ‘Cotton’ and ‘Sunflower’. They form part one and two of a trilogy that maps out his experiences and personal growth. Whilst his lyrics feel raw and honest, the soothing jazz melodies and hip-hop beats in his music inject something a little more uplifting, lifting tracks like 'Blush' and 'Me, Myself & I' into a space where we could either dance or cry.

His latest single ‘Day By Day’ was written in LA and was the product of a short session with American keys player Rob Araujo. With staccato keys, woozy percussion and Miller’s smooth vocals, it’s the perfect summer tune.
