Jacob Zuma sentenced by South Africa's top court
Jacob Zuma, South Africa's former president, forged his reputation as a stalwart of the anti-apartheid movement, when he served ten years in prison, alongside Nelson Mandela.Â
Now, he has been sentenced to 15 months in jail by the country's highest court. The sentence comes after the Constitutional Court found him guilty of contempt for defying its order to appear at an inquiry into corruption while he was president.
Justice Malala, a South African political analyst and journalist, explains the impact of the sentence and the ANC's reaction.
