Afghanistan withdrawal: Last foreign forces leave Bagram
It comes as Taliban insurgents continue to advance in many parts of Afghanistan.
Reports from Afghanistan say that all US and other NATO troops have left the huge Bagram airbase north of Kabul.
Bagram has been the centre of operations against the Taliban and Al Qaeda for almost 20 years.
In April, President Biden promised that all American forces (except those guarding the US embassy) would have left Afghanistan by September the 11th.
But the withdrawal comes at an uncertain time as Taliban insurgents continue to advance in many parts of Afghanistan.
The 大象传媒's Chief International Correspondent, Lyse Doucet says
"Today symbolically is very, very important. It's a sign that it's almost over in terms of boots on the ground. But they are scrambling to complete what are still really important steps for the future of Afghanistan... How will they support the Afghan forces as they battle an intensifying a Taliban assault? How will they train them? How will they use their drones? And how will they protect the airport in Kabul?"
