GB were looking to win gold in the individual show jumping event and follow in the footsteps of Nick Skelton and his horse Big Star, who won gold in Rio. Ben Meher and Explosion W are strong chances for a medal having qualified in top spot. Fellow Britons Harry Charles and Scott Brash were also looking for medals. It can be common in equestrian show jumping for there to be a jump-off, whereby riders and horses with equal scores face off again to decide the medals. Completing the course clean and without time penalty is key, and a single fence could be the difference between gold and fourth.
