Team GB's track cycling golden couple Laura and Jason Kenny feature in the Izu Velodrome.
With three golds to be won in the Izu Velodrome on the final day at Tokyo 2020, the track cycling action kicks into gear with the women's omnium scratch race. Laura Kenny is the only woman to have won the Olympic omnium event - a third consecutive title would be her sixth gold medal, and a seventh medal in total, both of which would be a record for a British woman. Kirsten Wild of the Netherlands is the world champion in the scratch race and the Dutch rider has eight world titles in all but an Olympic medal eludes her. Japan are yet to win a medal at the famous Izu Velodrome but Yumi Kajihara, who is the reigning world champion, could make it a day to remember for the hosts. Other contenders include the USA’s Jennifer Valente, Denmark’s former world silver medallist Amelie Dideriksen and Italy’s Elisa Balsamo, who is the European champion. There are four events in total with the tempo, elimination and points race to follow. The men’s keirin gets underway with Team GB's defending champion and six-time gold medallist Jason Kenny in the same heat as the Netherlands' reigning world champion Harrie Lavreysen – the Dutchman is attempting to do what Kenny did in Rio: win all three men’s sprint events – he has two golds so far. In the second heat, GB's Jack Carlin bids to add to his individual sprint bronze in the keirin. Great Britain have real pedigree in this event and have won men's kierin gold at the last three Olympics.
