Shauna Coxsey goes in the sports climbing as track cycling, sailing, athletics, hockey and basketball continue.

The men's beach volleyball quarter-finals begin with Anders Mol and Christian S酶rum of Norway playing Ilya Leshukov and Konstantin Semenov of the Russian Olympic Committee. The Norwegian duo are currently ranked world number ones, while the Russian duo are world number 16. The winners will play either Martins Plavins and Edgars Tocs of Latvia or Alison Cerutti and Alvaro Morais Filho of Brazil.

The women's golf gets underway at the Kasumigaseki Country Club after an outstanding men's competition, which saw a seven-way bronze play off. In what was penned as a very hot day in Japan, the opening round see's 60 athletes go for gold. GB's Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Mel Reid will aim to spring a surprise on some of the favoruites in the field, which includes world number one Nelly Korda of the US and Kin Young Ko of South Korea.

In a repeat of the 2016 women's hockey final Great Britain take on the Netherlands, this time in the semi-finals. GB came through a penalty shootout against Germany to make it to this match, which will decide who goes into the gold medal match. The Netherlands have been in fine form since their 2016 loss, losing on very few occasions. Later on in the programme, India and Argentina play in the other semi-final with the winner meeting either the Netherlands of GB in the gold medal match.

World number one and world number two, the US and Australia respectively, face off in the women's basketball quarter-finals. The US have a very strong history in this sport, winning eight of the 11 golds in the sport's history, Australia have picked up three silver medals but are yet to take a gold. Later in the schedule, Japan and Belgium meet in another of the women's basketball quarter-finals. Making it through to the semis guarantees a medal match so many see the quarter-finals as a pivotal game. Japan have not moved into the semi-finals before and the hosts will be looking to make history in the event.

GB's Hannah Mills and Eilidh McIntyre were looking to secure gold in the women's 470 sailing class. Should she medal, Mills will become the most successful female Olympic sailor in history, and will defend the title she won in Rio. The wider GB sailing side will become the most successful in the nations history with a gold medal in the 470.

Jason Kenny and Jack Calin go in the men's sprint on thew banks of the velodrome. Britain have had success in this discipline in the past and both will be looking to progress from the qualifying rides. The Keirin also gets underway in the velodrome, a discipline of track cycling invented by the host country. The event sees cyclists follow a motor-paced bike around the track before sprinting for first place.

Shauna Coxsey looks to qualify for the combined final, with the lead event up last in the sports climbing. The event, in it's first Olympics, has captured the eye of many viewers. Consisting of three disciplines, which combine speed, skill and forward thinking, the sports climbing pits athletes against each other in the grueling event. The top eight qualify for the final.
