Zambia's debt default aftermath
Zambia became the first African country to default on its sovereign debt during the Covid-19 pandemic, when it failed to keep up with a $42 million Eurobond interest payment. Credit lines immediately dried up, the Kwacha depreciated, and the cost of living for millions of people increased sharply.
