Covid: ‘Focus on vaccines for world’s vulnerable’
There has been a moral failure and tragedy for global political leadership in not distributing coronavirus vaccines more fairly around the world, the director of the Oxford Vaccine Group, has said.
There was a real possibility that enough vaccines will have been produced by the end of the year to allow the most of the world’s vulnerable people to be protected, Prof Sir Andrew Pollard told ´óÏó´«Ã½ Hardtalk.
But plans by some governments to give booster jabs to already vaccinated populations would only enhance global inequity by diverting these vaccines, he said.
We may end up with some people having three doses, while there are many parts of the world where people are at zero doses, Prof Sir Andrew said.
