Mozambique insurgency: Rwandan troops help liberate key port
Mozambican and Rwandan security forces have recaptured the key port town of Mocimboa da Praia, a stronghold of Islamist militants in the north east province of Cabo Delgado. It's happened just a month after Rwanda deployed 1,000 troops to the area at the request of the president of Mozambique.
So how big a blow is this for the insurgents?
Eric Morier Genoud is a reader in African history, Queen鈥檚 University Belfast, focussing mainly on Mozambique.
"The intervention is significant, it will change the situation, but... it will take time. Even militarily it seems that the insurgents from Isis withdrew from the town so the conflict will continue in the countryside... And even if there is a military victory there are still all sorts of social and political grievances which need to be addressed."
