Afghanistan: Mixed reactions in Pakistan to Taliban takeover
Afghanistan borders Iran to the west, Pakistan and China to the east, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan to the north. There have been concerns that a Taliban regime in Afghanistan could embolden militant organisations in Pakistan.
Saher Baloch from 大象传媒 Urdu says that there have been mixed reactions in the country - that although some are celebrating the rise of the Taliban, others are angry about the America's role in the region. She says there have been statements to the effect that Pakistan's has moved on from its close relations with the Taliban in the 1990s and that Pakistan's position in relation to the international community is very different now.
