Afghanistan: Journalist threatened at gunpoint by the Taliban
Many Afghans are afraid of what's going to happen when international forces leave next week, and fear that the Taliban will put much tougher restrictions on daily life. In recent days, journalists and TV presenters are among those targeted by the Taliban, with some now living in hiding.
On Wednesday this week, a well-known TV correspondent and cameraman from Tolo News were threatened by fighters when they were out reporting on the streets of Kabul. He describes the event, saying that his mobile phone and the cameraman's camera were taken after Taliban fighters approached them with guns. He says he doesn't know what provoked the attack and he's worried for his future, that he cannot leave as he has nowhere to go.
"They pushed me at gunpoint and hurt me. ... As a journalist I'm worried about my safety, my family, about freedom. As the situation continues, freedom is really in question."
