How important is religious freedom on death row?
In the state of Texas, a man named John Henry Ramirez is expected to be executed on death row on Wednesday night. John Henry Ramirez killed Pablo Castro as Castro was taking out the trash at the convenience store he worked at.
He's been attempting to legally change the rules on how the death penalty is implemented. Because of his devout Protestant Christian beliefs, he wants a pastor to lay a hand on him as he dies.
For more, Newsday spoke to Keri Blakinger who is an investigator reporter from the Marshall Project in Austin, Texas.
