‘Take away the punters and you’ve taken away the reason to write poetry’

Poet John Cooper Clarke has told Colin Murray he didn’t write any poetry over lockdown because there was no audience to listen to it.

The poet known as the Bard of Salford said: “Until I get instant approval of it, I never know if a poem’s any good or not”.

This clip is from John Cooper Clarke’s chat with Colin Murray on the Midnight Meets podcast.
