"I am absolutely chuffed to bits!" Son Andrew is delighted when's Mum able to get out of bed again, thanks to a hoist
Mum's been in bed for almost a fortnight after it became increasingly difficult for the carers to move her without hurting themselves. Her worsening dementia means that their, and her, safety were at risk. But the Occupational Therapist from Social Services ordered a hoist, which was delivered this week. It means that Mum can be winched from the bed, onto her commode and then into the reclining chair - her own mini ride from Hull Fair, down the road! Andrew gets emotional watching her leaving bed again, dressed and able to look out of the front window or to watch television. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on 大象传媒 Radio Leeds.
