New water defences proposed for West Kirby - plans include a flood wall stretching across 1.15km of the coastline
Following a lengthy consultation, detailed plans for the new sea defence for West Kirby will be officially lodged this week.
The plans include a new flood wall stretching across 1.15km of coastline and new pedestrian build-outs to the South Parade carriageway to create safe pedestrian crossings points.
But despite flooding on the waterfront causing much concern amongst local residents in recent years, the proposals haven't gone down well with everyone.
A petition was created by locals earlier this year who feel the new plans with 'destroy' the character of the seafront.
Cllr Liz Grey is chair of Wirral Council鈥檚 environment committee - she has been speaking to 大象传媒 Radio Merseyside about the plans.
