The man from the Maldives - "fighting for my islands' survival"

Mohamed Nasheed has been a prominent voice on climate change action for decades, fighting for the survival of 48 vulnerable countries.

Mohamed Nasheed has had an eventful career in politics. He was ousted in a coup in 2012, four years after he was elected as president of the Maldives. He's been to prison multiple times, and survived an attempted assassination in a bomb attack earlier this year. He's a prominent voice on tackling climate change.

None of the Maldives' 1,200 coral islands is more than six feet above sea level, making the country extremely vulnerable to rising sea levels caused by climate change.

The 大象传媒's Chris Morris first interviewed Mohamed Nasheed more than 30 years ago. Ahead of the COP 26 climate summit in Glasgow, they caught up again to share 5 minutes on the fight for the survival of small island nations like the Maldives.
