Waukesha Christmas Parade attack: City grieving over loss of life
A car drove through holiday parade where over 60 people were injured and six died.
To the US city of Waukesha in the state of Wisconsin - where on Sunday a Christmas parade was rammed by a car - on purpose according to police - leaving what is now six people dead.
The sixth victim - eight year old Jackson Sparks - succumbed to his injures in hospital on Tuesday. On the same day, prosecutors told the city's county court of the boy's passing during the arraignment hearing of thirty-nine year old Darrell Brooks, who faces charges of intentional homicide and possible multiple life sentences.
With more than 60 people injured in the attack, prosecutors say further charges will be filed. Bail for Brooks was set at five million dollars due to his extensive criminal background.
So how is the Waukesha community coping with the fallout from this tragedy? Newsday spoke to Reverend David Simmons - from St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Waukesha - who was at Sunday's parade and witnessed events at the time.
