Aung San Suu Kyi: Ousted leader sentenced to four years in jail
Ousted Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to four years in prison, the first in a series of verdicts that could jail her for life.
She was found guilty of inciting dissent and breaking Covid rules under a natural disasters law, charges she denies.
Dr Sasa, spokesperson of Myanmar's National Unity Government in exile and special envoy to the UN, says Ms Suu Kyi faces 13 charges and up to 104 years in prison. He told Newsday 鈥渢he verdict has nothing to do with justice but in prolonging the military rule and reign of terror in the country.鈥
