North West overtakes London for daily Omicron numbers
This week sees new changes come into force in regards to Covid testing.
From tomorrow, people in England who receive positive lateral flow results for COVID-19, but have no symptoms, will be required to self-isolate immediately, but won鈥檛 be required to take a PCR test to confirm it.
Liverpool saw an increase in the number of people coming forward for first doses, 6,000, and second vaccine doses, 7,500, but it still leaves only 64 per cent of the city double jabbed, compared to 83 per cent nationally.
The rate of infection is also going up, as of the 3rd of January there were an extra 4 thousand new cases, with a positivity rate of 41 per cent.
The rate per hundred thousand of population is 2,376.5.
