US and Canada trucker vaccine mandates will bring 'more empty shelves'

Thousands of unvaccinated American truck drivers are banned from crossing the border into Canada and now the US is also blocking Canadian truckers. The lack of drivers has made it hard to get products from ports to shop shelves and has already driven up prices across a wide variety of products.

Jim Ward, chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association, says, with 80,000 vacancies for truck drivers currently unfilled, and the number increasing all the time, the mandate will only make the situation worse. He cites a recent survey that shows that 36% of truck drivers remain unvaccinated, with many saying that they would seek another job if vaccines became mandatory.
