Shaun White and Mark McMorris chat Olympic tactics

Two snowboarding icons: USA’s Shaun White and Canada’s Mark McMorris. Both leaders in progression within their disciplines, they reveal how things are shaping up for Beijing.

Aimee Fuller brings you the Winter Olympic Mile podcast on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sounds. With the Beijing winter games edging ever closer, it felt only right that she catches up with some of the athletes who are heading out to represent their nations. As a former professional snowboarder and two-time winter Olympian she knows just how it feels, so is buzzing to introduce you to some of Team GB’s finest as they prepare for their shot at Olympic gold, as well as some of the biggest international names from around the world.

This time Aimee got to chat with two icons from two different disciplines within snowboarding, they have both written themselves into the history books and are on the hunt to continue that dominance in Beijing… we’ve got Shaun White and Mark McMorris.

Shaun is widely regarded as one of the GOATs of the sport, he’s heading to his fifth Olympic games, yes 5th, and he’s medalled at 3 of them. Aimee got to catch up with the USA snowboarder in Switzerland for a ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sport Ski Sunday film shoot and chat to him about everything from mentality going into the games, his unique training regimes and playing in his band.

Aimee also connected with Mark McMorris as he prepared for the X Games in Aspen, a competition that he went on to win gold in the slopestyle, not bad for Olympic warm up. Mark is a two-time bronze medallist at the Olympics... his first he won with a broken rib! This guy has been pushing the progression of the sport ever since he emerged onto the scene in 2011, so Aimee was excited to catch up with him for the podcast.

In this podcast series Aimee is going to be taking these athletes for a one-mile walk, getting them out and about to chat everything from training plans, food and Olympic goals. Aimee has put together an amazing line-up, there are so many Olympic legends in this series it's unbelievable; from medal-winning Team GB legends such as curling’s Eve Muirhead and skeleton’s Laura Deas, to international icons such as Marcus Kleveland. She’ll also be checking in with Olympic debutants such as Matt Weston who competes in skeleton and speed skater Niall Treacy, so many great characters coming your way.

She'll also be dropping in with athletes while they're out in Beijing and remember you can only hear it right here on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Sounds... So come on, stroll with us.
