Tricks, flicks and skills as the medals are won in the men's halfpipe final at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Tricks, flicks and skills as the medals are won in the men's halfpipe final at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Team GB’s Gus Kenworthy qualified for this final by the skin of his teeth. He fell on his opening run and even though he put down a much-improved 70.75 second time around, he faced a nervy wait until the end. The Chelmsford-born skier will need to be at his very best to finish in the top-half of this final, such is the talent on display.

New Zealand’s Nico Porteous is a serious contender after X Games gold in January and is also a beautiful technician in the pipe. He’ll have a battle on his hands with the American quartet; Aaron Blunck topped qualification; 22-year-old Birk Irving is a former youth Olympics champion; Alex Ferreira won silver in 2018 and halfpipe royalty David Wise remains the only man to win Olympic gold in this event (2014 & 2018). Canada are also well represented and Brendan ‘D-Mack’ Mackay looks the pick of their three finalists.
