How was the Africa Cup of Nations?
Senegal are the champions of Africa 鈥� as the Afcon final is settled with penalties. We look back on the tournament.
It was billed as a shoot-out between Sadio Man茅 and Mo Salah鈥� and effectively that鈥檚 how it turned out. After extra-time it was still 0-0 and so another match went to a penalty shoot-out, and it was Man茅 who became the man of the moment, taking the final penalty to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations for Senegal, depriving Salah鈥檚 Egypt of the trophy. Hosts Cameroon came third. Senegal claimed the title for the first time, while Man茅 took the player of the tournament.
But the past month also saw tragedy, as 8 people died and 38 others were injured in a crush at the newly-built Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, ahead of a Cameroon match.
