´óÏó´«Ã½ Bitesize - KS3 English - Investigating themes in fiction
Have you ever wondered what it means when we talk about the ‘theme’ in a fiction text?
In literature, theme is a word we use to talk about the ‘big ideas’. This is different to the plot, which is what happens in the story. For example, the plot of JK Rowling's’ Harry Potter series tells how a young boy discovers that he is a wizard. The book also explores bigger ideas, or themes, such as good versus evil and the importance of friendship.
