Covid-19 school closures in Kenya leads to spike in teenage pregnancy

The nine-month school closure in Kenya due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the year 2020 saw a worrying increase in teenage pregnancies. According to the ministry of health, the stigma and fear made most of the girls shy away from attending the four required antenatal visits recommended by the World Health Organisation; therefore missing out on maternal health services. However, a solution brought by PharmAccess under MomCare is helping track teenage girls using data that helps get them financial and medical assistance when they need it.
