Forgotten Suffragettes
The story of three lesser known suffragettes - Sophia Duleep Singh, Annie Kenney and May Billinghurst - marking the diverse backgrounds of the women who fought to win the vote. Princess Sophia was the daughter of the last Maharaja of the Sikh Empire; Annie Kenney came from a working class background in the industrial north west; May Billinghurst was disabled and attended WSPU rallies in her tricycle decorated with suffragette colours. All three women attended the march in Westminster on Friday 18 November that subsequently became known as 'Black Friday'.
