Son Andrew's glad to be back with Mum after a week's holiday and reflects on another call out for the paramedics
Andrew is back with his Mum after a week's holiday. As Carolyn's dementia gets worse, he's found the first few months of the year particularly stressful and is ready for a break. He talks about two incidents while he's away - problems with her repeat prescriptions and a call out for the paramedics. The day before his return the carers struggle to wake Mum up and to give her food or drink. After tests it's decided that she doesn't need to be admitted to hospital. But for her son - struggling to get a mobile phone signal and at least seven hours away - it means a panicky afternoon. He also reflects on choosing to spend Mother's Day with his partner and their daughter, rather than with his own mother. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on 大象传媒 Radio Leeds.
