Update on Just Stop Oil protests
Assistant Chief Constable Glen Pavelin of Essex Police gives an update on the protests which have been taking place at several oil depots in Essex and elsewhere in the country.
The protests, organised by a group called Just Stop Oil, have been going on since 1 April 2022.
It comes as the first fuel protestor has been prosecuted following the disruption. Catherine Maclean from West Sussex admitted aggravated trespass after an incident in Thurrock and was fined more than 拢400.
She is one of 23 people who have now been charged following the protests in Essex.
Essex Police says that as of 19 April, more than 420 people have been arrested in connection with the protests.
