Polish soldiers trained at Audley End
Audley End House in Essex became known as Station 43 during the Second World War, and it was home to an elite group of Polish paratroopers, known as the Cichociemni - or "Silent Unseen".
They were trained at the house to jump behind enemy lines into their occupied homeland to fight the Nazis.
A special ceremony to mark the men's valour was held on Sunday on the 80th anniversary of the house being used for this training, while the folks at English Heritage have now been able to identify six men who were soldiers in the squad after deciphering some hidden graffiti in the house.
