Petition against RideLondon cycling event
Hundreds of people have signed a petition appealing for the RideLondon cycle event to be stopped from passing through Great Dunmow and the surrounding area in north Essex.
The annual event previously took place in Surrey, but from Fri 27 May, it will be in Essex and is scheduled to take place here for the next five years.
There will be several different rides, with as many as 25,000 riders speeding through the countryside including in the districts of Epping, Chelmsford, Maldon and Braintree.
But some residents in Great Dunmow are not happy about their roads being blocked in to traffic.
´óÏó´«Ã½ Essex speaks to people behind the petition, as well as other local residents and also Hugh Brasher, event director at RideLondon, who told ´óÏó´«Ã½ Essex's Sonia Watson that they have worked with communities across Essex to develop access plans for residents, and they are very keen for people to contact them with any concerns.
