Reparations debate in Grenada
The protests in the US after the murder of George Floyd in 2020 rippled around the world – including the Caribbean, where many started to take a fresh look at their history of slavery. The last island in the Caribbean to set up a national commission on reparations for slavery was Grenada, in 2021. The family of the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Laura Trevelyan were absentee slave owners on Grenada - and she went to the island to explore her family's past, and the connections with the present. Laura worked with the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Koralie Barrau, Bill McKenna and Stephen Greaves for this special World News America report.
