Apps for parking payment "discriminatory"
Across Essex there's over half a dozen different apps to use to pay for parking.
Some councils and businesses no longer take cash at their car parks. This includes the University of Essex, c2c train stations and Tendring and Maldon Council-run car parks.
Some apps are very popular - in Colchester alone this year, 73% of parking transactions have been by app, compared to 20% by card and 7% by cash.
So the demand for parking apps is there, but not for all. For some, this can all be very confusing - and Dame Esther Rantzen, Founder of Silver Line is calling on the Government to stop elderly people being forced to use an app to park.
´óÏó´«Ã½ Essex speaks to Dame Esther Rantzen, as well as Alex Seleska, the founder & lead consultant of Dragonfire, who's been developing and designing apps for most of his career.
