Platinum Jubilee: Brewing beer for the royals
A warrant issued by Queen Elizabeth II's royal household to a producer allows it to display the royal coat of arms, or design, and shows that its goods or services are supplied to the Queen or to a member of the Royal Family.
The Windsor and Eton brewery, close to the royal residence at Windsor, is brewing a beer in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee. Will Calvert, one of the people who set up the brewery up in 2009, explains the events that led to his company being awarded a royal warrant. He says that when Prince Philip was alive, he took an interest in the local beers, being known to prefer beer to wine at state occasions, and the moment that Windsor and Eton beer was stocked in the Queen's shop was a big moment for his brewery.
