A vote of confidence in Boris Johnson will be held by Conservative MPs today

The vote was triggered after at least 54 Conservative MPs asked for it.

Sir Graham Brady says he notified the PM on Sunday that that threshold had been met.

At least 180 Conservative MPs - a majority - will have to vote against the PM tonight, if he is to leave.

No 10 says Johnson "welcomes the opportunity to make his case to MPs" and the vote is "a chance to end months of speculation".

The vote follows anger over Sue Gray's report detailing lockdown rule-breaking in Downing Street.

Ministers have said this weekend that if a vote is called the PM will easily win it - and see off his sceptics within the party.
