Residents launch campaign to save Orell Mount Park
Residents in Sefton have launched a campaign to Save Orrell Park, after the council announced its plans to turn part of the land into 3G football pitches.
The project, which has been labelled the Orrell Park "masterplan" was released as part of a public consultation to encourage the public to come forward and share their thoughts about the development.
The project has been backed by former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher, and if successful would be run by his JC23 Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to support disadvantaged children in the city.
But locals fear the development will lead to a lack of green space - and also say it's a missed opportunity to renovate the pavilion, which is something residents have been calling for, for years.
