The earthquake in Afghanistan that affected three provinces along the border with Pakistan has been described as the deadliest to strike the country in two decades. It's believed over 1,000 people have been killed, and many more hundreds are injured and displaced.

Ehsan, a student from Kabul is currently in the Khost region to visit his aunt - just 44km (27 miles) from where the earthquake struck. He says the area where the earthquake struck is so remote that helicopters are needed to transport the injured to Kabul, and that he can see these flying across the area. The region is desperately short of food and water, as well as medication and health facilities.

"The amount of destruction is so high and there is no place to go."
