Cost of living crisis worse in the north
The cost of living is hitting us all hard but new research out this morning shows its affecting us in the North much worse than the more affluent South.
The Study carried out by think tank the Centre for Cities, called "Out of Pocket" has found that on average workers in the North are 133 pounds a month poorer while the equivalent figure for those in the South is 103 pounds.
In terms of energy bills, the 6th highest in the country can be found in Birkenhead in Wirral.
Overall as far as prices are concerned...inflation is up to 30 per cent higher in cities in the North compared to London.
Why is this happening and what's to be done?
Andrew Carter is the Chief Executive at Centre for Cities and Peter Owen is the chief executive of Wallasey based Energy Project Plus, a charity that helps improve domestic energy efficiency and reduce fuel poverty.
