"Basically I dropped him off, on a Friday, to his death."

Karon鈥檚 son TJ took his own life after being refused a mental health assessment.

A woman from north Essex whose son took his own life after being refused a mental health assessment in hospital has told 大象传媒 Essex she's still waiting for an apology from the NHS.

Terence Joseph Pimm. also known as TJ, was a 30-year-old man from Dovercourt near Harwich.

He was struggling with depression in the August of 2016 and was wanted by police for breaching a community order.

On one of those days he was refused a mental health assessment in A&E at Colcheser General Hospital, and was told he should go to a police station. He was found dead the next day.

An inquest jury subsequently concluded that "adequate and appropriate" steps were not taking to protect him.

His family have now been awarded a financial settlement from the mental health trust in Essex.

大象传媒 Essex speaks to TJ's mother, Karon Pimm.

Paul Scott, Chief Executive at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT), said in a statement: 鈥淲e accept that the care provided by the former North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust fell below the expected standard and our sympathies remain with Terence Pimm鈥檚 family and loved ones. We are committed to learning lessons and embedding them across our organisation to ensure we provide the best possible care.鈥
